In which direction does BEG Corporate give legal support?
Both. Into Türkiye: we support companies from the US, China, the Gulf and Europe with matters under Turkish law such as company formation, contracts, data protection and e-commerce, and we manage the home-country side, such as parent-company resolutions and documents, on the same plan. Out to the world: for Turkish ventures going abroad, we coordinate target-country matters with local law firms there and handle the Türkiye side together, such as contracts between the Turkish company and the new entity, IP, and foreign-exchange and tax obligations. Work that requires a lawyer is carried out by approved independent legal professionals through BEG Hukuk.
How can a foreign company set up a business in Türkiye?
Foreign companies in Türkiye usually set up a limited liability company (Ltd. Şti.) or a joint-stock company (A.Ş.); a branch or a liaison office are also options. Law No. 4875 on Foreign Direct Investment sets the principle of equal treatment for foreign and domestic investment. Formation is filed through MERSİS and completed by registration with the trade registry; documents of foreign shareholders usually need an apostille and a sworn translation. BEG Corporate coordinates the whole process on one plan, from choosing the structure to setting up tax and accounting.
Why choose BEG Corporate for legal support when entering Türkiye or expanding abroad?
Because we don't separate the legal process from the rest of the business. Contracts, data-protection compliance and corporate structure move on the same plan as your product, software and brand. You work with one team that understands law, software and design, and our AI-assisted workflows keep things moving fast. Work that requires a lawyer is handled by approved independent legal professionals through BEG Hukuk, while we keep the coordination.
What should foreign companies processing personal data in Türkiye watch out for?
In Türkiye, personal data is protected by Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK). Privacy notices, explicit consent where required, data-security measures and VERBİS registration are the core obligations; data controllers based abroad must also register with VERBİS. Cross-border transfers were reshaped by a 2024 amendment: without an adequacy decision, appropriate safeguards such as standard contracts are required, and a standard contract must be notified to the Authority within five business days of signature. We build these rules into your product's data flow together with you.
Which registrations does a foreign company need to sell online in Türkiye?
E-commerce in Türkiye is governed by Law No. 6563 on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce; e-commerce service providers and intermediary service providers register with ETBİS. Consumer sales follow the pre-contract information and right-of-withdrawal rules of the Distance Contracts Regulation. Card payments require working with a licensed payment institution or a bank under Law No. 6493, and collecting payments on behalf of others in marketplace models needs a separate assessment. We have gone through these processes first-hand on our own platform.
How can a Turkish startup take its project abroad?
It starts with the target market and the entity structure: in the US, startups often incorporate in Delaware; in the Gulf, free-zone companies are common; in Europe, the country is chosen with tax and data-protection rules in mind. Then come founder agreements, English-language commercial contracts, trademark registration and data-protection rules such as the GDPR. Matters governed by the target country's law are coordinated with local law firms there. The Türkiye side matters too: contracts between the Turkish company and the new entity, assignment or licensing of software and brand, and foreign-exchange and tax obligations. We run product, software and launch preparation on the same plan.
How do you use AI in your work?
We are an early-adopter, AI-native team. We use AI every day for research, regulatory scanning, first drafts, translation checks and software development, and we built our own internal system that plans project work with AI agents (Local Ajan) as well as Dava Asistanı, a local-first workspace for lawyers. AI raises speed; final review, decisions and responsibility always stay with the team. For confidential documents, we agree with you on which tools may be used.
Which languages do you work in?
We work in Turkish and English. Our key information is also available in Arabic and Chinese, and the BEG Hukuk platform can be used in Turkish, English, Arabic and Chinese. Where needed, we work with sworn translators and local partners.
Where is BEG Corporate based, and do you work remotely?
We are based in Üsküdar, Istanbul. We meet in person in Istanbul and work with companies across Türkiye and abroad through online meetings.
